Future DGL Racing Leagues

Postby sinthetyk_wolf » Thu Jul 03, 2014 10:38 am

Hey Guys & Girls,

Looking for a proper DGL Racing League for pc?

Yeah? so am I!

So after having a quick chat with DGL they suggested i throw it out there and see what racing games you all are interested in making an official DGL contest.
Please note that some of these games are still in development and won't be selected as a official DGL Racing League until that development is complete.
So here are a few of my suggestions.

DTM Experience - The Official DTM racing game as supported by the sponsors and organization itself. It's right on the edge of a excellent sim but can also cater for players who only have controllers. and the sound quality in this game is unmatched by anything i have played before. (Multiplayer is still in Alpha stage)
This game requires the base game R3E which is for free over here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/211500/
and then you can purchase the DTM Experience here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/272770/

Grid Autosport - This game is directed at a more arcade sim type racing and offers a good challenge and various racing classes
check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/255220/

Race 07 & GTR 2 - This is the official Touring Car Championship racing game and has been tested and proved by many racing leagues, it has a huge host of dlc which makes for a great league divisions. There is still a huge online community for these games and you can get the bases games and all 7 expansions for R450.00 if you any kind of racer i suggest you grab that one
check it out here:
Race 07 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/8600/?snr=1_6_4__421
GTR 2 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/8790/?snr=1_6_4__421
and here is that epic bundle: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/18370/

F1 2013 - The Official F1 racing game is yet another great title that brings us closer to the pinnacle of motorsport, the game caters for different skilled racers.
We could have another league division here for the classic cars on the new age tracks? Maybe hold out till they drop the next season?
Check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/223670/

Now for what is probably the two most anticipated Racing sims to hit the Pc platform - however both these games are still in development

Assetto Corsa - we see the community growing everyday as this game develops, the handling is exceptional and is best used with a steering wheel, controllers are supported but i think it creates to much of a gap between the players as this games handling model is so realistic. many different classes and events which will be great for divisions within a league.
Check it out here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/244210/

Project C.A.R.S - I think the world wide community of racers is waiting for this title to be released as we have seen from forums and videos this looks to be one of the most complete racing games out there. once again this game has multiple disciplines and will make great division for a DGL League.
Check it out here: http://www.projectcarsgame.com/ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5o5SmQWlR0

So now you probably wondering why i haven't included alot of other racing sim games? That is because these have proved to be the more popular titles amongst South African players.

Well there it is guys & girls i hope you find this informative and encourages our Pc racers to have an official DGL Sim Racing League.
Please post your thoughts, Opinions and suggestions so that we can get the rubber burning asap.

I would be keen to compete in something like this.
My votes would be for
GRID, Assetto Corsa or Project Cars.
Out of those i only own Assetto Corsa.
GRID seems like a nice alternative to Gran Turismo and Forza for the PC and might be more approachable to a wider crowd because you can use a controller properly.

I would love Project Cars (Depending on how good it is when it finally comes of course). If not Assetto Corsa is my second choice.

Though I do agree with Heckers GRID might be easier, I havn't played GRID Autosport. The reviews for it have been rather bad on steam and the poeple say the cars handle like GRID 2 (WHICH IS TERRIBLE, YOU DRIFT TO GO FASTER!? WHAT IS THIS? TRACKMANIA OR SOEMTHING?). If we do go with GRID I suggest GRID 1. Otherwise Project Cars or Assetto Corsa.

GRID 1 was amazing btw, not the most hardcore of sims, but absolutely gorgeous :D and controllers can play without hassles.

If you make Grid 1 an official DGL game...i will quit all other games to play it.

That game was just too awesome..

If we after a sim racing experience i would say rFactor, rFactor 2 is a bit to pricey, doesnt look as good as AC or Grid, but unmatched when it comes to Sim realism, ive check out AC but i will be a little hesitant with a game in Early Access.

For arcade style i would say GRID 1 or 2, either way, has eye candy and can be fun.

Either way, you okes know me, Im just keen to play and have fun, so at the end, just let me know what game i have to pick up to sign up and join :D

edit: even F1 2013/2012 would do nice i think

Hi there.

Hennie Otto advised me that you may start a league here.

I don't see it among the previous suggestions, so here goes:
If you are looking for a Formula 1 style open wheel championship, I would recommend rFactor 2.

Yes, it's pricey, but it has the most immersive physics for open wheelers there has been. Especially Formula ISI - which is mock F1, only without official licensing - and Formula Renault 3.5 2014.

Thanks for popping in Ho3n3r,

Gents Ho3n3r has been around in Sim racing for ages, he races at Raceconnect.com, Formula-simracing.net (a paid entry league), gpvwc.com/ and is defnitly the go to guy when it comes to sim racing.

I do think if the league happens, it will be more benificial if its a sim racer than an out and out arcade style game.

Any thoughts lads?

I think GRID 1 is more suitable for the type of thing we are going to do. Full on sims are a bit niche as Heckers has said before. It might not attract a lot of people. GRID 1 is arcady enough that people can use a controller and still be competitive, yet it's sim enough for those of us with wheels to also enjoy the sim elements.

GRID 2 and Autosport imo shouldn't be looked at, those aren't half sim, half arcade. They are just plain drifty arcade nonsense. The more you drift the harder your car turns and the faster it goes. GRID 1 is a decent sim/arcade mixture.

OK. Let me know in future when you're looking at some more realistic racing. My bad for posting here, I was informed that it was for sim racing.
